1968-1969 Corvette Speed Warning Speedo Gears and Pictures

The 1968-1969 Speedo warning speedometer were the same with the exception that the head was threaded on 68 and not on 69 (69 used the clip on cable).

The gearing for the speed warning needle assembles just as pictured below and if you take one apart be sure not to lose any of the parts, there are none available to replace them with.

There was a grounding circuit on the back side of the face as well as a grounding pin on the speed warning needle, both are shown below.

The speedometer needle was also different in that it had a tiny hair pin spring attached to the backside, when this spring would touch the grounding pin on the warning needle it would make the relay buzz on the A pillar.
